  • Edgar Wright Presents: The Driver

The past few weeks have been quite the adventure, hence the silence. Not only did I get a new job but it has finally hit me that I am in my final year in London. My first year here has opened my mind and allowed me to explore a possible career in Social Media (which I did not really believe was a real job). From working at a charity, which gave me an immense respect for Feminism, to agency life, the knowledge that I have a distinct career path is comforting. That being said I have also been acknowledging my true passion, film and television. The beginning of my #1000Moviesin600Days…

  • Long Weekend

This was the last long weekend in the United Kingdom until Christmas – and I failed. My goal was to crank out at least six movies over the three day period but only achieved half that. The movies I did end up watching were The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Rear Window and The Producers. The films are varied, spanning different genres and were all fascinating to watch for the first time. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the first movie from the 1920s I have seen in some time. It took me a while to settle in to the format, the stopping and starting, but forced me to pay closer attention to…

  • Vancouver Fan Expo 2015

I was not supposed to attend the Vancouver Fan Expo 2015. Luckily, a friend took my Friday shift and I got to explore the first day of the convention. “Hey, there’s Captain America.” The cosplay at this years event was fantastic. There were some guys I recognized from two years ago, and lots of wonderful new costumed fans to chase and photograph. I went mostly to see Karen Gillan’s Q and A, but unfortunately it was cancelled due to an illness. Jennifer Morrison, of Once Upon A Time, also held a panel and was lovely. She answered questions with humour and grace. It is so nice to see how much…

  • Vancouver Fan Expo

My first assignment for Hush lead me to the Fan Expo, basically Vancouver’s Comic Con. I arrived at noon the first day, two hours after doors had opened, and the line was still the length of the Convention Center. The costumes or ‘cosplay‘ was fascinating, and a little confusing for someone who doesn’t pay too much attention to this world. The details were outstanding, it was so fun seeing a glance of something cool and hunting it down for a photo. People were friendly and excited and the panels were hilarious and random – James Marsters and Juliet Landau talking about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, crazy. I also came back just…

  • Get The Look of the Cast of The New Girl!

Get The Look Of The New Girl‘s Jess Day! Jessica Day, played by Zooey Deschanel, is whimsical, quirky and one of a kind. Jess is a former teacher who moved in with Winston Bishop, Nick Miller and Schmidt when her long term boyfriend was caught cheating. Jess enjoys singing – instead of talking – handbells and Dirty Dancing. Her upbeat and positive personality is good but can also get her in trouble. Believing everything will go well makes Jess a little naive, which is why her friendships with the boys, and CeCe Meyers are so important. Cece is a strong, confident person and looks out for Jess. These friendships are what…

  • Secrets of a Good Girl – Get The Look of Bonnie and Clyde

Get The Look of Bonnie and Clyde’s Bonnie Parker! Bonnie Elizabeth Parker is based on the real life criminal with the same name. While the film is not exactly historically accurate – it romanticizes and exaggerates – it depicts a general version of the couples years together. What makes this story so great is Bonnie’s participation. To have a young couple rob banks, kill people and engage in acts shocking for the time, brings a new sense of excitement to the criminal lifestyle. The Bonnie Parker the film portrays is the girl the media created based on photos found in the Joplin hideout. The photos depicted a  gun-toting, cigar smoking wild child. The real…

  • Secrets of a Good Girl – Mad Men

Betty Draper Francis is on a constant search for happiness. Betty believes she has done everything right, she married the perfect, handsome man, had two beautiful children and lives in a lovely suburban home. Everything is right but she is not happy. Betty was a docile housewife – the stereotype. She looked perfect every morning, brought up two beautiful children and had dinner on the table every night. Throughout the first and second season, viewers watched as Betty matured; cheering her on as she found strength and freed herself from the shackles. Upon marrying Henry Francis, Betty longs for the old days with Don.…
