• Hospital Information Access Denied

    In early April, CBC (Canadian Broadcast Company) launched an investigation into individual hospitals across Canada. ‘Rate My Hospital’ part of the Fifth Estate includes statistics, letter grades and detailed surveys regarding the hospitals closest to you. In order to access this information CBC asked the Canadian Institute of Health Information – the CIHI receives information directly from the hospitals, which it in turn shares with the public – but when the CIHI went to health officials from provinces across the country they gave a collective “no.” It gets worse.   • Summer Travels

    My parents came down from Ontario this week and we spent a few days driving up the coast of Cape Breton, NS. The Cabot Trail is one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve seen and even though it was a lot of driving, it was worth every second. We also visited Louisbourg, which is the first fishing village in Nova Scotia. It was really interesting, as well as being gorgeous. If you are ever in this area I highly recommend visiting. I’ll post a few pictures on here and the rest you can view on my Flickr.  

  • Treaty Day

    On Friday it was Treaty Day in Halifax, so I trekked down to Grand Parade with my camera and got some cool photos. It is the 24th anniversary of Treaty Day, and the portion I saw was the flag raising. I also met Mayor Peter Kelly which was cool. The first few photos are his encounter with some teenage girls. I loved their reactions so I thought I would post them.
