• Hungry Hollow Trail

I love having an amazing trail so close to home. When I was a kid Hungry Hollow had no bridge and was, in winter, an interesting -terrifying – car ride. Now it has a beautifully constructed trail along Silver Creek. The ravine is one of my favourite parts of Georgetown, and was a huge part of my childhood. This trail showcases some of the best parts, going from the flat creek to the hilly wooded area. You can even see the posts from the old camp. The day we went was perfect. The sun was shining, no clouds in sight but the shade afforded a relief. The only downside is…

  • Limehouse Conservation Area

The trail through the Limehouse Conservation Area is gorgeous. When we reached Limehouse we found these beautiful, humungous mushrooms on a tree on the edge of a property. I love mushrooms, and seeing how large they can grow is incredible. We didn’t go deep into the area but there are lots of places to explore, including remnants of the of Lime industry. The Limehouse Kilns have been around since the late 1800s and are a must see when on the trail. It was a lovely, but muggy, overcast day. Everything in the forest was bright green, popping against the dark brown ground. Limehouse is a tiny town, but is surrounded by gorgeous woodlands. This…

  • Georgetown

Every time I go back to Georgetown I am shocked by how different it is. As I grew up the town was expanding, but the past few years the town has grown quite large. This time, instead of focusing on the new sections of the town, I went to old Georgetown. Main street is picturesque, and in some pictures looks like a toy. The old buildings are beautiful, the street is perfectly groomed and there is an odd sense of comfort and safety as you walk the street. It is a wonderful place to visit and only makes me want to adventure around more small towns.

  • Winery

Here are the rest of the photos from my time back home. We visited a berry picking farm/winery on the edge of Georgetown neither of us knew about. This cute farm was a lovely stop and a great find.

  • Halton

Coming home is always lovely, but in the winter Georgetown is a completely different place. Summer here is gorgeous, and since I haven’t been home in a while, my father and I adventured. Georgetown is a tiny town surrounded by farmland. The photos of Main street, which will be posted tomorrow, don’t even look real. It wasn’t the liveliest place to grow up but coming back from the city to a small town is always nice.

  • Merry Christmas

I came back to Ontario during one of the worst ice storms we’ve seen. My hometown looks like Narnia – its incredible.

  • Manitoba and Saskatchewan

We made it out of Ontario!! We traded the hills and trees for flat land and huge fields. The farmland was beautiful but the wind was insane. Our little car was being pushed, you could feel the friction. We made it in to Winnipeg for the night. Unfortunately our couch surfer had a miscommunication and we took up in a motel. It was nice to shower and sleep in a bed, and free tea and coffee in the morning was nice. The next morning was grey and rainy and really cold; Mumford and Sons was the perfect soundtrack. We raced out of Winnipeg and drove to Saskatchewan. The fields were bright and…

  • Ontario

It was absolutely wonderful, she could not have been more excited. That night was low key, drinks with her roommates, maybe a midnight trip to McDonalds. It was great to catch up and spend time with her. Her friends are friendly and accommodating, and the cat and dog were lovely. The next day we walked around the city, exploring Parliment Hill, seeing Champlain’s Point and enjoying our time together. Ottawa is stunning, the Parliment buildings are beautiful. The only downfall was the rain which forced us back to her home for a movie. That night was my first Casino experience. I lost five dollars on the penny machine and spent the…

  • Summer Travels

My parents came down from Ontario this week and we spent a few days driving up the coast of Cape Breton, NS. The Cabot Trail is one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve seen and even though it was a lot of driving, it was worth every second. We also visited Louisbourg, which is the first fishing village in Nova Scotia. It was really interesting, as well as being gorgeous. If you are ever in this area I highly recommend visiting. I’ll post a few pictures on here and the rest you can view on my Flickr.
