• Road Trip Across America

I recently moved from Vancouver, British Columbia back home to Georgetown, Ontario. After two and a half years I have acquired a lot of furniture, books and knick knacks, so the only way to get back is to drive. Going out west I did a road trip through Canada, this time my father and I drove across America. During the trip we saw Craters of the Moon National Monument, Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. It was an insane amount of driving but was worth the trip. One of my favourite random stops was Wall Drug. This roadside attraction is in Wall, South Dakota and has 5 cent coffee. The town…

  • Road Trip in Yellowstone National Park

We got so lost in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is a massive protected area filled with wild animals, geysers, waterfalls, mountains, lakes and mineral pools. We only spent a couple hours looking around but you can spend weeks exploring. Within the first ten minutes of being there we ran into a herd of buffalo. They are giant, beautiful animals and my long lens made me happy I could get close shots. The mineral pools and geysers were my favourite part of the park. The colours of the pools are fascinating, and even though the sulphur smell was gross, it was gorgeous. Since we went in the spring some of the roads…

  • Road Trip Through Craters of the Moon

Craters of the Moon National Park was the first real stop on our American road trip. Located near the town of Arco, Idaho, Craters of the Moon is a protected park close to the mountains and covered in lava. The park was established in 1924 to preserve the unique and beautiful lava fields. The plants and trees that have broken through the lava make the landscape more appealing. It is incredible to see how nature can withstand any environment. The park has even been visited by astronauts. In August of 1969, four of the man who were going to take flight on Apollo 14 came to the park to understand the geography of the moon…

  • Road Trip Through America Day One

I just moved from Vancouver, British Columbia to my hometown in Georgetown, Ontario. My incredible father came out to help me move and we had a road trip back through the United States. It was a really long drive, but we were really lucky and had great weather. We had a few places we wanted to see – Craters of the Moon, Yellowstone National Park, and Mount Rushmore – but the rest was just driving. Day One was a half day of driving through Washington. There were tons of army trucks on the roads and a base near where we stopped for the night, it was strange to see the…

  • Driving to the North Shore

After a few days in Honolulu, we drove up to Turtle Bay on the North Shore. We stopped at a few of the lookouts, including a stunning beach, with clear water and coral bottom. The clear skies, warm weather and beautiful views made this drive wonderful.

  • British Columbia

We finally reached our destination! Waking up in the early morning, watching the fog drift over the water proved British Columbia’s beauty. Our drive was to Whistler which meant we would spend the whole trip driving through the mountains. Our soundtrack: The Civil Wars. Blasting ‘Barton Hollow‘ while the mountains surrounded us was sensational. The powerful vocals and heavy pounding beat encompassed us as the mountains grew. The weight of the world could be on my shoulders but looking back at this moment brings me peace. We are so little, the world so big. After the powerhouse performance the atmosphere shifts – ‘The Violet Hour‘ forcing you into contemplation. The soft piano…

  • Alberta

Alberta was stunning. Moving from the prairies to the mountains was such a drastic change, everything was exciting and new. The towns were much bigger than I expected, large older looking homes. More variety, especially when we approached the Badlands. The ground just dropped and create these incredible formations. Sitting on the edge of the cliff, surrounded by grass, staring at the beautiful scenery – it was one of my favourite moments. After setting up our tent we hiked around the site. You move from this incredible view of everything to being surrounded. The views were amazing, and walking as the sun was setting over the cliffs was unbelievable.…

  • Ontario

It was absolutely wonderful, she could not have been more excited. That night was low key, drinks with her roommates, maybe a midnight trip to McDonalds. It was great to catch up and spend time with her. Her friends are friendly and accommodating, and the cat and dog were lovely. The next day we walked around the city, exploring Parliment Hill, seeing Champlain’s Point and enjoying our time together. Ottawa is stunning, the Parliment buildings are beautiful. The only downfall was the rain which forced us back to her home for a movie. That night was my first Casino experience. I lost five dollars on the penny machine and spent the…
