Bayside have consistently made albums that address the emotions of its listeners while still allowing them to rock out to the fast paced music. Anthony Raneri‘s jazzy voice adds a great contrast to Nick Ghanbarian, Jack O’Shea and Chris Guglielmo’s harder instrumentals. While Killing Time is reminiscent of their earlier work it is more intricate and expressive. Bayside has been around for a long time and still has it’s listeners begging for more with each album released.

Bayside is the band I go to when I feel like nothing is going right. ‘It’s Not a Bad Little War’ helps to explain why. It addresses the issue of being a regular person and the fear people have of being ordinary.

“I had a place to live in/I had a job worth quitting/I had some things I had to chase…That we are, our only chance in the world/So stand for something cuz somethings overdue/And I don’t ask for much, but this could define a lifetime”

This is the beginning and ending to the song, showing how life is what you make it. If you feel you are ordinary, do something to change that. Bayside is the band that helps to give perspective while still giving great melodies. ‘Seeing Sound’ is a great anthem allowing for a call and return during the chorus. ‘Killing Time’ is the quintessential Bayside song starting out slow and quiet and building up to a melodic chorus. Mirroring Raneri’s vocals against Guglielmo’s hard hitting drums.
